Common Roles Of The Criminal Justice Agencies

Every day, there are incidences which are treated as going above the law and therefore become a crime. From these incidences, there are two sides which are affected, that is, the complainant and the accused. Criminal justice agencies come in to ensure that there is the deciding and punishing of these cases as per the law. It is a series of institutions of the government and includes the police, courts and those involved in corrections. The highlighted below are the principal roles they are supposed to undertake.

After a crime has been committed and the complainant reports, it is the function of these agencies to arrest the individuals involved. They move in to have the persons who are the accused in custody as per the evidence that is presented by a complainant. Depending on the nature of the case that is present, they proceed to hand them over to the other institutions.

They are also responsible for correcting any evidence that will help out in a case. Civilians are only used to offer information and are not law enforcers. Therefore, it is the responsibility of these bodies to source for anything that could help in finding solutions to the cases. This information is then presented to those who are mandated to pass judgment as per the law.

During court proceedings, they are also responsible for providing legal assistance to the parts that are involved. It is therefore essential that the individuals who are involved in an issue to sought their assistance, especially where things are complicated. This is usually provided in the form of attorneys to either side since the lawyers are well acquainted with the process.

The middle person in all this is usually the court. They undertake to listen to the sides which include accused and complainants. The passing of judgments is done based on the evidence available and the regulations that touch on an issue being handled. The level of power that is used also depends on the magnitude of a crime that has been committed and evidence present.

In addition, the institutions undertake to provide intelligence services such as on matters of drugs and firearms. The central focus of these bodies is to ensure that the society is safe and that there is peace. Hence, it is their function to look into issues that might be a threat to the country and give reports to relevant bodies so that there can be solutions taken to prevent adverse effects.

Not that, they are charged with undertaking to hold persons who have been found guilty through correction facilities, after the cases are decided, the next thing that happens is to put the guilty under prisons where they get to serve their sentence. The role of these centers is to correct the individuals presented to them by other institutions.

Finally, these agencies are responsible for offering assistance to persons that have been released from correction facilities. It is definitely hard for one to cope with normal life after losing years of staying in correction facilities. Some may go to the extents of sliding back to carrying out criminal activities. The responsible agency, however, come in to provide help and also monitor the character of these individuals.
