By Donna Barnes

Everyone wants to see more of themselves, or their brand, the in virtual world. So do many people that feel what they have to offer is fantastic. Knowing where to start is the secret to moving up in traffic and can make a big difference from those that simply rely on word or mouth, or shares, alone. Having an expert that knows social media marketing can save time prevent common mistakes made when using the web to promote a product or service.

Outside of Baton Rouge, LA are people looking for something new and exciting that they can share with others. While word of mouth through sharing is a great thing, there are so many social media sites that are live but it can be hard to tell which will bring the greatest return. There are many factors that determine social sites are worth the time.

This is not to say these are bad but maybe they have yet to connect with general audiences or a particular demographic. Sometimes it takes a moment but when it comes to good promotion, target and timing are everything. Knowing the right audience and choosing a regular post frequency can be a job by itself.

Although anyone can find their prospective customers on blogs, forums and online groups, there is a little protocol needed in the initial communication. Some make the mistake of adding unsolicited links to their posts or coming in with a hard sell pitch, which is often labeled as spam. While some blogs allow users to create an avatar for ongoing communication, seldom does this lead to direct sales. It is a tertiary marketing tool, at best.

Interesting content can come in a wide variety, memes, infographics, and smartphone videos are the latest trends. Not only are some of these methods fast but provide a nice visual that can be viewed with any device. Things like execution and ensuring that the content can be found in major search engines are details that are often left out when a person decides to do their own online marketing.

Sometimes people who go into e commerce may have other things going like another job or raising a child. In this case, there are often days when getting out good content may be a challenge. When starting out, it is best to maintain a posting schedule that will attract the core audience immediately. This means posting during peak hours when most are likely to be online.

By targeting audiences during peak hours, this can help to build a solid customer base. If there is no email list, it is best to have this on a personal spreadsheet in addition to the database. This is just in case something goes wrong with the computer or other mobile device, this makes it easy to export or update.

It is common for someone starting out to feel it may not be necessary to hire a marketing expert. The truth is that they have the knowledge and time to help any brand grow in an area that is becoming more competitive by the day. They should also give truthful feedback in regard to visibility and overall engagement. In essence, their job to understand the client and their needs.
